California proposes updates e-filing rules
The California Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) drafted changes to its Electronic Adjudication Management System (EMAS) rules. The changes constitute the first update to the rules since 2012 and, if adopted, would allow for the submission of documents with e-signatures as well as electronic filing and service of appeals documents. The proposed rules can be read and comments may be submitted on the DWC website here.
Colorado adopts 2026 medical fee schedule
The Colorado Division of Workers’ Compensation (DOWC) has adopted updates to Rule 18 of its Workers’ Compensation Medical Fee Schedule, effective January 1, 2026. The most significant change is the removal of the state-specific “Z” codes for over-the-counter topical medications not supported by national pharmacy billing standards. The remaining updates consisted mainly of expected annual adjustments to reimbursement and fees. Links to the new fee schedule and related exhibits can be found on the DOWC website here.
Nevada issues FAQ on adoption of formulary and other reforms
The Nevada Division of Industrial Relations posted answers to Frequently Asked Questions concerning pending workers’ compensation system updates stemming from the passing of SB 317. Among the changes is the adoption of the ODG Drug Formulary to be used by insurers for outpatient services after July 1, 2027. The FAQ can be viewed here.
New Mexico orders new EDI standards and amends rules
The director of the New Mexico Workers’ Compensation Administration has ordered new requirements, formatting, and procedures for submitting EDI data in accordance with the IAIABC Electronic Data Interchange Claims Release 3.1 Standard. Pursuant to the order, revisions have been made to several parts of the Administrative Code, ranging from minor technical edits to complete repeal and replacement of the rules on data reporting and safety requirements. New York updates dental fee schedule
In July, the New York Workers’ Compensation Board adopted formal changes to their workers’ compensation dental fee schedule. The changes were published in the State Register on November 12and are now in effect. The updated fee schedule can be found at Adoption of Amendments to Section 444.2 of Title 12 of the NYCRR (Dental Fee Schedule).
