Claimant rights and responsibilities

Rights 

  • You have the right to have your personal information kept private and secure, as required by federal and state laws and regulations.  Please see ​our Online services privacy policy and Notice of privacy practices for more details.
  • You have the right to receive services without discrimination based on race, beliefs, national origin, sex, age, disability, diagnosis, or religion.
  • You have the right to see and access your medical records.
  • You have the right to get clear and timely information about coverage decisions.
  • You have the right to appeal coverage decisions with your insurance company or payer.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and complete personal and medical information.
  • Tell us about any changes in your health condition.
  • Follow medical advice and work with your health care providers and insurance company or payer to follow your treatment plan.
  • Learn about and understand your medicines.
  • Report any suspected fraud or wrongdoing to Optum.
