John Bencivenga

As the General Counsel of the Optum Workers’ Compensation and Auto No-Fault division, John Bencivenga's focus is on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts as well as working with internal departmental clients and outside counsel on various transactional and counseling matters. John’s responsibilities also include managing Compliance, Regulatory Affair, and Government Affairs.

John has extensive experience in labor and employment law, contract negotiations, and governmental regulations. He has over 25 years of experience – first with the firm of Thompson, Sizemore & Gonzalez, P.A., where he focused on labor and employment matters, and then as the Director of Legal Affairs & Counsel for PharMerica, Inc. At PharMerica, John was responsible for handling and resolving employee-related matters, governmental affairs, vendor contracting, all real estate matters, and corporate compliance issues. John has focused exclusively on the legal, regulatory and governmental aspects of the workers’ compensation and auto no-fault industries since 2006, and has held the General Counsel/Chief Legal Officer position since 2007.

John holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and is an honors graduate of Florida State University College of Law.
