NY Workers’ Comp Board delays OnBoard, Drug Formulary application and DMEPOS fee schedule

May 26, 2021 · Public Policy & Regulatory Affairs Team

On May 24, 2021 the New York Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) announced a delay of OnBoard-Limited Release via bulletin 046-1408. In delaying the roll-out of OnBoard-Limited Release, the WCB has in effect delayed implementation of:

  • Electronic prior authorization requests (PARs) for medical services;
  • Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies DMEPOS fee schedule changes previously adopted; and
  • Application of the Drug Formulary to all “refills and renewals”

The original implementation date for electronic PAR processes, the DMEPOS fee schedule and the Drug Formulary was to be June 7, 2021. The WCB Chair did not provide a specific updated/delayed implementation date at this time, but rather stated that a new effective date will be later this summer to coincide with an updated launch of OnBoard-Limited Release.

The Optum Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs team will continue to track these regulatory developments and will provide updated information in the near future.
