As Executive Director of Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs, Kevin Tribout spearheads our client education, communication and compliance programs on the latest legislative and regulatory initiatives. He reviews the impact of legislative and regulatory issues, helps to ensure compliance across all business units and acts as a direct liaison to state legislators and regulators on behalf of the company. Kevin also assists the Settlement division with public policy development related to CMS Medicare Set-Aside processes at the federal level.
Kevin is a leading advocate, recognized spokesperson and public policy expert on all workers’ compensation issues. He is in his sixth term as co-chair of National Council for Prescription Drug Programs’ Work Group -16 (Workers’ Compensation/Property and Casualty) and is in his second term as a member of the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions (IAIABC) Medical Issues Committee. Kevin also represents Optum in public policy trade associations such as the American Association of Payers, Administrators and Networks and the National Alliance of Medicare Set-Aside Professionals, as a member of regulatory and legislative committees.
A much sought after spokesperson, Kevin has presented at RIMS, NCPDP, IAIABC, IRSG, SIIA and other industry conferences on a range of topics, including state and federal workers’ compensation compliance, physician dispensing, reimbursement and billing policies. He has been published in several trade publications, online journals and industry-related association publications.
Prior to joining Optum, in 2001, Kevin was deputy floor director for the Illinois State Legislature where he assisted the Republican Minority Whip in running House Republican floor operations, evaluated legislation, and recommended voting patterns for House Republican caucus members. In this role, he provided legislative and political analysis for House Republican leadership and analyzed state agency budgets in an effort to make funding recommendations to leadership. He also served on the House Republican Campaign Committee, Political and Policy staff where he was responsible for drafting campaign plans, supervising campaign budgets and coordinating Political Action Committee and local fund raising efforts.
Kevin holds a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from Webster University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Southern Illinois University.
